The occlusal contacts were significantly more accurate in samples resulting from impressions using alginate tray adhesive both in stock trays and custom impression trays than those without using tray adhesive (P<0.05). The aim of this in silico study was to evaluate the trueness of peripheral and inner seals of different edentulous jaw impressions. The accuracy of occlusal contacts between samples with tray adhesive and without tray adhesive was compared for stainless steel stock trays and acrylic custom trays. Objectives Despite the complexity of the edentulous anatomy, little evidence exists as to what impression techniques and materials should be employed for an optimal result. Thus, the aim of this study is to systemically review the literature to evaluate the effect of the existing disinfection.
Numerous disinfectants are used however, no sole disinfectant can be designated as universal for all the impression materials. Precious time can be lost adjusting the occlusal surface of a crown because the opposing alginate impression was distorted or carelessly recorded, making for unnecessary expense, and the clinical outcome can be compromised. Dental impressions are contaminated with potentially pathogenic microorganisms when they come into contact with patient blood, saliva, and plaque. The present alginate hydrocolloid was developed as a substitute for agar when it becomes uncommon due to World War II. Like agar, it is a natural Hydrophillic Colloidal Polysaccheride extracted from brown seaweed. The percentage of accurate occlusal contacts of mounted casts was determined by dividing the number of accurate contacts observed on the casts with total contact points clinically determined, multiplied by 100. The implications of an inaccurate opposing impression are far from trivial. The word Alginate comes from alginic acid i.e. The occlusal contacts of mounted opposing casts were also determined and recorded. Occlusal contact points at maximum intercuspation (MI) intra-orally were recorded by using articulating paper and images of occlusal contacts were taken. Alginate impressions were made in 20 dentate participants with or without the use of tray adhesive in stainless steel tray and acrylic custom tray and then the casts were poured in dental stone immediately. A study was conducted to investigate the effect of tray adhesive for alginate impression on accuracy of occlusal contacts of mounted stone casts. Among various factors contributing to inaccurate alginate impression, lack of adhesion to the tray is an important one. To achieve this goal, accurate impression is extremely important. Accurate occlusal contact relation is necessary for all restorations and devices in dentistry as correct diagnosis, proper treatment planning and perfect restoration ensure satisfactory chewing efficiency.
